Morning Bell: Unsuspected Joy

Our series UNSUSPECTED JOY features the work of French Jesuit priest and philosopher Teilhard de Chardin (1881-1955.) In his own lifetime Teilhard’s writings were suppressed by the Catholic church, but subsequently have found renewed acceptance. At a time when the world feels increasingly unstable, unpredictable and dangerous, Teilhard’s sense that everything is moving towards a good fulfilment may be both welcome and challenging. His trust in the goodness of God and a growing sense of divine presence in all creation became for him a glorious, unsuspected joy.

Ian’s images for the series feature wind turbines along the A68 in the Borders – for us hopeful signs of human engagement with and care for the earth.

Grace and peace to you for the journey into stillness and action for a better world…

Ian has a new book out on Canterbury Press for Advent, Christmas and Epiphany  – titled Some Small Heaven. This latest work seeks to discover the light within the darkness of winter –  and within all our winters – and so to find some small heaven each day, even when life comes at us tough, hard and bleak. It’s available now in paperback and e-format from Canterbury Press, also via your local bookshop, and all usual online sources including Book Depository with free delivery world-wide.
